MOTOR CITY SPORTS LETTER

THIRD ISSUE

DROP THE PUCK!!!!

The 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs begin April 15th, The Red Wings play Columbus. Here are my first-round predictions.

EASTERN CONFERENCE

BOSTON VS MONTREAL- last year, the Habs were the first seed and the B's were 8th. It took Montreal seven games to win. This year, everything is reversed. I expect it to stay that way-Boston in seven

BIG TIME IRONY IN THIS SERIES-Habs legend Guy Lafleur goes on trial for obstruction-of-justice charges just hours before game one.

WASHINGTON VS RANGERS-Too much Ovechkin for the Rangers- Capitals in Six.

NEW JERSEY VS CAROLINA-The one series I think might be an upset in. I believe the 'canes will beat the Devils in six or seven tough games.

PITTSBURGH VS PHILADELPHIA- This series should be a dandy, two evenly matched teams, who also happen to be intrastate rivals-PENS IN SEVEN.

WESTERN CONFERENCE

SAN JOSE VS ANAHEIM-A friend of mine said this series would be a "bloodbath". He's right. Nabokov and the Sharks should win this in seven brutal games.

DETROIT VS COLUMBUS-The Wings are the better team, and I fully expect them to raise their game to the next level, Jackets coach Ken Hitchcock believes the Wings are the best team in the league, who am I to argue?-Wings in five, maybe six.

VANCOUVER VS ST. LOUIS-The Canucks are the better team in every phase of the game, and shuld win in five or six.

CALGARY VS CHICAGO-Maybe the best first-round match up these teams are evenly matched, and should play seven physical games, with Kipprusoff and the Flames coming out on top.
